Marine Hydrophysical Institute
The
Marine Hydrophysical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the
Ukraine is one of the largest oceanographic centres both in
our country and abroad.
The Marine Hydrophysical Institute (MHI NASU) carries out
research in marine hydrophysics and marine chemistry. The Institute
has long standing experience in numerical modeling and process
oriented field studies.
Among problems of highest priority are: dynamics of ocean processes,
remote sensing, turbulence, marine optics, interdisciplinary shelf
research, database management, theory of waves, development of
oceanographic instruments, stochastic modeling, nuclear hydrophysics.
Being the institute of an experimental and theoretical type,
performing along with theoretical developments and laboratory
experiments the many- fold expedition investigations, the Marine
Hydrophysical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the
Ukraine possesses the modern scientific-technical base
including specialty equipped hydrophysical polygons, stationary and
partially submerged oceanographic platforms, automatic systems of
assembly, storage, processing and system analysis of oceanographic
information as well as unique oceanographic devices. It is staffed
the highly skilled scientific personnel.
