Marine Hydrophysical Institute

The Marine Hydrophysical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukraine  is one of the largest oceanographic centres both in our country and abroad.
The Marine Hydrophysical Institute (MHI NASU) carries out research in marine hydrophysics and marine chemistry. The Institute has long standing experience in numerical modeling and process oriented field studies.
Among problems of highest priority are: dynamics of ocean processes, remote sensing, turbulence, marine optics, interdisciplinary shelf research, database management, theory of waves, development of oceanographic instruments, stochastic modeling, nuclear hydrophysics.

Being the institute of an experimental and theoretical type, performing along with theoretical developments and laboratory experiments the many- fold expedition investigations, the Marine Hydrophysical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukraine  possesses the modern scientific-technical base including specialty equipped hydrophysical polygons, stationary and partially submerged oceanographic platforms, automatic systems of assembly, storage, processing and system analysis of oceanographic information as well as unique oceanographic devices. It is staffed the highly skilled scientific personnel.
